Cat litter calculator
How many kilograms a month for your cats and when the pack runs out — by the kind of litter, as a range.
How we count
We take the usage per cat per month from the table below and multiply by the number of cats.
Days = pack weight ÷ (monthly usage ÷ 30.44). Less usage means more days, so the day range runs the other way round.
The figures are a heuristic from secondary sources, not veterinary advice: real usage depends on how often you scoop and how many trays you have.
Usage figures
| Kind | kg/month per cat | ≈ kg per litre |
|---|---|---|
| Clumping bentonite | 9–13.6 | 0.9 kg |
| Non-clumping clay | 13.6–18+ | 0.8 kg |
| Silica gel | 6.8–11.3 | 0.4 kg |
Usage — a secondary source (heuristic). Density — typical for packs of that kind; the weight on the pack is more accurate.
Example
Two cats on clumping bentonite: 2 × 9–13.6 = 18–27.2 kg a month. A 10 kg pack lasts about 11–17 days.
