What and when: the general rules
Dogs
- Puppies: core vaccination every 3–4 weeks from 6 to 16 weeks, a booster at about 6 months, then no more often than every 3 years (WSAVA).
- Rabies: every year, mandatory, from 3 months.
- Worms: at least 4 times a year; puppies from 2 weeks (ESCCAP).
- Ticks and fleas: the season runs March to November. The interval depends on the product — monthly or every 3 months; the vet prescribes it.
Cats
- Kittens: core vaccination every 3–4 weeks from 6 to 16 weeks, a booster at 6 months, then every 3 years; yearly for cats that go outside (WSAVA). Feline leukaemia — for cats that go outside.
- Rabies: every year, mandatory, from 3 months.
- Worms: at least 4 times a year; kittens from 3 weeks (ESCCAP).
- For indoor cats, discuss flea and tick protection with your vet.
The vet prescribes the product and the dose. The schedule is approximate — settle the final one with your vet.
